Victor Zuniga, Jr. Obituary (1950 - 2020)

Victor Zuniga Jr. was born in San Antonio, Texas on February 17, 1950. He passed on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at home surrounded by loving family in Texas City, Texas. He lived 70 blessed years. At the early age of sixteen, Victor moved to Galveston, TX to live with family. It is here where he met the love of his life, Sylvia, when he was twenty years old. At age twenty-one, he married Sylvia and began their life long journey together. They enjoyed Tejano/Cumbia dances at the Moody and Lulac centers in Galveston. You could always recognize him with his Stetson hat, handlebar mustache, khaki pants and Stacy Adams. He was a welder by trade and worked at Kelso Marina/AA Fabricators/Lone Star Fab/IFI. He was blessed to have two daughters and two sons and settled down in Texas City, Texas. He would spend most of his off time enjoying family gatherings or movie time with his children at home. He enjoyed playing and teaching his family how to play dominoes. He was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan. In retirement, he enjoyed eating pan dulce, playing loteria with his family and spending time with his great- grand children. He is preceded in death by father, Victor Zuniga Sr.; mother, Francis Muniz Tovar and grandson, Gabriel Garza. Victor is survived by his loving wife of forty-nine years Sylvia Segobia Zuniga; daughters, Melissa Maldonado and husband Aaron, and Matilda Lopez and husband Jesse; sons, Victor Zuniga III and wife Yolanda, and Nico Zuniga; nine grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; sisters, Lydia Mendoza and husband Willie of San Antonio, and Frances Marks of Porter; brother, Lawrence Lopez of Lake Livingston and many more family members. Honorary pallbearers are Victor Zuniga III, Nico Manuel Zuniga, Andrew Maldonado, Marcus Maldonado, Victor Zuniga IV and Eric Maldonado. Guests are invited to share in a Celebration of Life Visitation from 10-11:00 a.m., with 11:00 a.m. Memorial Services on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Carnes Funeral Home, 3100 Gulf Freeway, TX 77591.
