Terrance "Terry" Ernest Bateson Obituary (1945 - 2023)

Terry was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the northeast of England, August16th 1945 to Renee and Ernie Bateson and was always proud of his Geordie heritage. After college and traveling throughout Europe and Asia, Terry came to America in 1976 and ended up in Houston working at restaurants and eventually as a manager of the Half Price Books in the West University Village. Terry became a large fan of the Cajun Culture and traveled often to South Louisiana to music events in Eunice and Mamou and of course to Mardi Gras in New Orleans on numerous occasions. As a friend said of Terry, he was such a wonderfully eccentric person and everyplace you went with him became an unexpected adventure. He left a trail of new, smiling friends behind him where ever he went. Terry is survived by his sister Heather and daughters Karen and Tracey. A memorial to our Terrance will be held on Friday February 17th at 2:00PM at the Unitarian Fellowship of Houston, located at 1504 Wirt Road 77055. Dress is casual and will be followed up at a local pub with a pint or two in his memory.
