Roy L Vaughn Jr. Obituary (1966 - 2022)

Obituary Roy L Vaughn Jr., age 56, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 6, 2022. Roy was the baby of the family, born to Linda King and Roy L Vaughn Sr., 82 nd Airborne Special Forces Army Ranger, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Being in a military family, Roy spent his younger years residing in different parts of the country like Virginia, Georgia, South Carolina and even overseas in Germany. He came to Texas in the mid 70's and graduated Lanier High School in Austin while living in La Grange. He later moved to the Texas panhandle, living in Borger and Stinette, and began working in the oil and gas industry for companies like Zachary. He began his oil and gas career as an iron worker. He quickly moved into a foreman position and was subsequently promoted to a general foreman. After some time, he eventually moved into project controls where he began work as scheduler and planner. In 2008, he accepted an opportunity to work for Marathon Petroleum in Texas City as a planner and settled in League City where he stayed for the remainder of his life. It was during this time, he went back to school and attended Sam Houston University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in Psychology. Roy's passions were always his family and motorcycles. He began riding at age 3 and spent most of his youth dirt bike racing. He always owned bikes throughout his life and enjoyed pushing the speed limits of them. He loved sport bikes and enjoyed taking day rides with his racing team of close friends. He also enjoyed going to the track and participating in drag racing and was proud of a personal best quarter mile time he achieved on one occasion. In addition to his love of bikes, he also loved cars, especially classic Mopar. He enjoyed going to car shows and auctions to see them up close. He enjoyed working on cars and had an extensive knowledge that he had accumulated throughout his life. Roy had a very generous heart and spirit and helped anyone who needed it. If he passed a lemonade stand, he would always stop and donate whatever cash he had on hand. He would be a generous tipper to servers and would also donate to the homeless shelters. He touched many with his generosity, friendship and love and a great void has been left for all who knew and loved him. He will be greatly, greatly missed. Roy was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Destiny Vaughn, his parents Linda King and Roy L Vaughn Sr. and his beloved Staffies, Reina and Sabbath. He is survived by his beloved wife Veronica Vaughn and stepdaughter Rebecca Lopez (Bear) of League City, TX. Sister Patty Aikin and brother-in-law Homer Aikin of Anson, TX, sister Montez Vaughn of California, and sister Sherry Aguirre and brother-in-law Charles Aguirre of Kyle, Texas. Nephew Adam Aikin and wife Desaray Aikin, and grandnephews Seth and Mason Aikin of Stinette, TX. Niece Hannah Aikin Richard and husband Adam Richard of Denton, TX. Nieces Megan and Charisma Lane and Shannon and Emma McCarthy of California. Niece Lenora Ramos, Nephews Ben Ramos and Charles Aguirre Jr., and many grand nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts and cousins. Also, Alan and Lorie Rothman of League City who Roy lovingly considered his brother and little sister and devoted friends. And lastly, his furry faithful companion, Luna (Lunatic). Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life gathering on Saturday August 27, 2022 at 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Webster NASA/Clear Lake in the Aries Room. 302 W.
