Opal Ezell Bonds Phillips was born June 28, 1925 in Walker County, Alabama and passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Holly Hall Retirement Community in Houston, Texas at the age of 94. Opal lived 89 years of her life in and around Birmingham, Alabama before moving to Houston, Texas in March 2015. She was a true southern lady who loved to play cards, solve crossword puzzles, and had an amazing intuition for a color palette in her artwork and interior design. She is preceded in death by James Edward Bonds (father), Harriett Lou Hatcher Bonds (mother), Loran Othell Phillips (husband), Terry Loran Phillips, (son), James Edwards Bonds, Jr. (brother), and Dorothy Louise Bonds Shirley (sister). She is survived by Frank D. and Barbara Bonds (brother and sister-in-law) of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Jan Congdon Phillips (daughter-in-law) of Oneonta, Alabama, Jean Shirley Radelat (niece) of Houston, Tom James Shirley (nephew) of Beaumont, Charles Edward Bonds and Franklin Robert Bonds (nephews) and Elizabeth Ann Bonds Lenell (niece) of Wyoming, and several great nephews, great nieces and one great-great nephew. Opal also leaves behind Marie Lorino of Birmingham, Alabama, her best friend forever.
