Norman was born on August 31, 1931, in Brooklyn, New York, to Joseph and Celia Block. He graduated from Norwalk High School in 1949 and enlisted in the United States Navy shortly thereafter. He was released from the Navy in 1950 to attend Duke University under the NROTC program. He received a degree (BSEE) and was commissioned Ensign in June 1954. He married his wife, Dorothy McShea Block, while both were stationed in Newport, Rhode Island, in 1958.\r\n\r\nHe was released from active duty in 1961 and transferred to the Naval Reserve. The family relocated to Texas where Norman was employed by DuPont: He retired from DuPont 26 years later. He was then employed by USI Corporation as Plant Manager. He retired from that position in July 1992 in addition to retiring from the Naval Reserve as CAPT, CEC, USNR.\r\n\r\nHe is survived by his daughter, son-in-law, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and a multitude of friends that will miss him terribly. \r\n\r\nDorothy died July 31, 2012 and a wonderful 54 year marriage.
