Lillian Marie Matthews Maresh Obituary (1942 - 2020)

Marie was 77 years old when she passed away on May 19, 2020 at her home in Simonton, Tx. She was the widow of Henry Maresh. They shared 36 blessed years of marriage. She was born in Beaumont, Tx. She was the daughter of Velma and Harvey Matthews. Marie worked for Braniff Airlines as flight attendant for many years before retiring to travel the world with her beloved Henry. She was an avid cook and cookbook collector. Her collection of cookbooks ranks in the hundreds, many handwritten! Marie was also an entertaining story teller! Her memory for music was astounding. She had a song for almost every situation. Marie is remembered for her generosity. She never met a stranger and would happily have given them the shirt off her back, if they needed it. She actually did take her coat off and gave it to a stranger once on a cold day! Marie is predeceased by her beloved husband Henry Maresh. As she generously donated her body to UT Medical School the interning of her ashes will be in the future. A memorial for close friends and family will be held soon. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Brookwood Community
