Judah Lee Chin Obituary (1995 - 2022)

Judah Lee Chin passed away Monday, June 27, 2022 at the age of 26 years old. Judah was the first child to his parents and the first grandchild to his grandparents. About 3 years later, he was blessed with his sister, Hannah, before the family moved to Okinawa, Japan. In Okinawa, he got to experience Japanese candy stores, kiddie arcades, beaches and playgrounds; and he attended kindergarten and AWANA and BSF at the local churches. While in Okinawa, he and his family would often travel back to the United States to visit family in Texas and California. After 3 years, the family returned to San Antonio, Texas where Judah attended first grade to third grade and learned to play piano and violin. He and his family attended First Chinese Baptist Church-San Antonio. He also continued to attend AWANA at a local church. His family moved to the Azores, Portugal for 2 years, where Judah was homeschooled and was able to visit historical European sites in England, Italy, Slovenia and Austria. His family then moved to Misawa in northern Japan where Judah completed Elementary School and Middle School, where he played the trumpet at the school football games. While there, he participated in Japanese cultural exchange activities which also included attending the Sapporo Snow Festival and learning to play the koto. He also went on family tours of China and Hong Kong. His family returned to San Antonio, Texas where Judah completed High School. His studies focused on math, science and Mandarin Chinese. He was baptized at First Chinese Baptist Church-San Antonio and was involved as one of the AWANA club leaders and in the high school youth group. Judah was accepted at the University of Texas at Arlington's Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering program. While there, he was active on the school fencing team serving as its Quartermaster. He was also active in the Arlington Chinese Church's AWANA program, its college bible studies and also attended the International Baptist Church of Arlington. After receiving his Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at University of Texas at Arlington, Judah worked as a civilian structural engineer at Fort Leonard Wood, MO. In his spare time, his hobbies included model building, 3-D printing and archery. He also participated in base chapel activities. Judah is survived by his parents, David and Kimnie Chin; sister, Hannah; paternal grandparents, Gat Ming and Wan Gee Chin; aunt, Debra (Larry) Mandel; maternal grandmother, Mei Lee; aunt, Bonnie (Ling) Szeto and cousins, Sarah, Rebeccah and Emmah; uncle, Gary Lee; aunt, Jennie (Stanley) Louie and cousin, Michael; and many more distant aunts, uncles, and cousins.
