Jennie Lenora McGill Simpson Obituary (1926 - 2015)

Jennie Lenora 'Nora' McGill Simpson, 89, passed away at St. Luke's hospital, Sugar Land, Texas, Tuesday morning, September 8, after a brief illness. Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 19, at 4:15PM, at New Beginning Church, 4251 Schurmier Rd, Houston, Texas, 713-734-9750. Born in Littlefield, Texas, Lenora graduated from Silsbee Public School where she later taught. She obtained a Master of Science degree from the University of Houston, working briefly as a Home Service representative for Houston Lighting and Power before returning to teaching. Lenora taught at Grady, Red, and Anderson Elementary schools, retiring after 37 years with HISD. Lenora is preceded in death by her parents, David H. McGill and Era Mae Brock McGill, her husband of 56 years, Charles H. Simpson, her sister Peggy McGill La Cour and brother David M. McGill. Survivors include her sister Mary McGill Cash of Scurry, Texas, and son James Wayne, his wife Jan and grandson Charles of Clinton, Washington, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
