Eldredge Gainsville Holmes Obituary (1927 - 2022)

Mutt (E. G.) Holmes, 95, passed away on November 29, 2022 at Heartis Clear Lake Memory Care facility. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margarett Holmes, with whom he shared over 70 years of marriage. Born in Jewett, Texas, he was the youngest child of six of Leona and Pinkney Holmes. He graduated from Jewett High School. He was employed by Welex, a division of Halliburton, from which he retired as a mechanic. Mutt enjoyed working on any kind of motor, fishing, camping, playing dominoes, and listening to blue grass and classic country music. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others when he could and his strong will. Mutt is predeceased by his parents and all five of his siblings, Elmer (Buddy), Gladys (Rab), Ione (Sue), Nona Belle (Pone), and Doyle Clayton (Jack). He is survived by his children and their spouses, Dana and Doug Tarter and Tommy and Cindy Holmes, and his grandson Sean Tarter and fiancee Jackie White. He is also survived by his grandchildren Misti and husband, Dan, and their four children, and Heather and husband, Paul, and their two children, and a host of many other family and friends. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Mutt's honor to St. Jude's Hospital.
