Ted

Ted left this life on Thursday, April 28, 2022. He was born on March 24, 1934, in Stephenville, Erath County, Texas to Thomas Eddie Richards, Jr. and Cordelia Mae Hilley Richards. They moved to Houston when Ted was a small child, where he lived the rest of his life.

He was a 1952 Graduate of Houston Lamar High School; attended Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. After his service in the United States Army, Ted returned to Houston to work in the family real estate business. He later served as a fire fighter, senior captain, and licensed arson investigator with the West University Place Fire Department. After his work with the fire service, he worked as a construction superintendent with several Houston area custom home builders before his retirement.

He was a wonderful husband to his wife of over 40 years Elizabeth Bucher Richards who will miss him. He is also survived by his only sister Linda Richards; his son and daughter-in-law, Ted Richards and Toni Maness-Richards; daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Daniel Nunez; daughter Margaret Richards; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In lieu of burial, he donated his body for scientific research to UTHealth. A celebration of life will be determined at a later date.
