Lino Tobar passed away on July 16, 2013 in Texas City, Texas. Lino lived in Texas City for 42 years and was deeply loved by family and friends. He was admired for his strong family values and ethics. He was a hard working man who retired from Todd Shipyards in 2002. He continued to work until his death at the age of 70. Lino will always be remembered for his family values that he instilled in his sons and daughters.\n\nHe is preceded in death by grandson, Merced Garza III; mother and father, Lino and Josefina Tobar; sisters, Lupita Tobar, Luisa Carillo.\n\nHe is survived by loving wife of 55 years, Josie Martinez Tobar; sons, Gilbert, Lino and Henry Tobar; daughters, Hope Fuente, Irma Tobar, and Norma Tobar and husband Doug Pennington; grandchildren, Gilbert and Selena Tobar, Crystal Herod, Chris Garza, Jesse Fuente, David and Amy Bailey, Elizabeth Gracia, Bryan, Brittney and Mike Pennington.\n\nPallbearers will be Chris Garza, Jesse Fuente, Gilbert Tobar Jr., Bryan Pennington, Robert and Michael Rosales. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gilbert, Lino and Henry Tobar.\n\nThe family will receive guests from 5-7p.m. July 18, 2013 with a 7pm Reciting of the Rosary. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30a.m. Friday, July 19, 2013 at St. Mary of the Miraculous Medal Catholic Church with the Rite of Committal to follow at Galveston Memorial Park.
