Birda Rue Washington Obituary (1926 - 2018)

Birda Rue was born in Abbeville, Louisiana on July 11, 1926. She passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at age of 91 years at Winchester Lodge Healthcare Center. Birda Rue was united in holy matrimony to Robert Washington and in this union a son was born, Robert Washington Jr. Birda Rue was a longtime resident of Alvin. She loved spending time with family and friends. Her home was always welcome to everyone and you definitely would experience a great meal. She was the master in cooking and baking. Some of her favorite pastimes were puzzles and listening to music. She leaves to cherish her memories, five grandchildren, LaToya Mahoney, Sebrina Mahoney, Todd Mahoney, Quentin Mahoney and Reshebia Washington all of Texas City, Texas; three great grandchildren, Godson, Dylan Small, Goddaughter, Betty Jenkins, a devoted brother, Donald Small Sr. (Annie Belle), Sister in Law, Ida Small and host of nieces, nephews, devoted friend Johnny Mae Brown as well as extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Randle and Rebecca Small, 10 loving siblings, Juanita, Randle Jr., Wevis, Bertha, Herman, Arthur, Johnny, Eddie, Willow Dean and Wilbert, her husband and son. A public visitation will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018 at New Phillips Baptist Church at 12pm located at 6135 FM 521 Rd, Arcola, Texas 77583 with the church service beginning at 1pm. Burial to follow at Manvel City Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Carnes Funeral Home. 409-986-9900
