Alrethia Dotson Obituary (1938 - 2016)

Alrethia Dotson, 77, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loved ones in La Marque, Texas. Born in Honey Island, Texas, she was graduated from Central High School in Galveston, Texas in 1956. She retired from St. Mary's Hospital in Galveston, Texas. Alrethia will be remembered for her bright smile and contagious laughter. Her caring heart and energetic spirit caused her to never meet a stranger. She always made everyone feel comfortable and welcomed in her presence. Her refuge was gardening while talking with the Lord. She also enjoyed finding creative ways to make her home warm and inviting. Alrethia's favorite time of the year was Thanksgiving where family and friends would gather at her home to fellowship and renew traditional values. She was preceded in death by parents, A.V. Horn and Willie Mae Lacy Armstrong Horn Clay; a son, Elton Emanuel Dotson III; siblings, Bobby Armstrong Sr., Eddie Horn Sr. (Eva), Norris Earl Horn, Melba Horn Nolan and Chester Clay Jr. To cherish her memory, she leaves her devoted husband of 57 years Elton Emanuel Dotson Jr.; Children; Lori Smith (Clifton), Lisa Kibler (Gilford), Cheryl Lynch; Grandchildren, Daniel Kibler, Evan Lynch (Dorcas), Elton Lynch (Sasha); Great grandchildren, Madison, Grace, and Kobe; Brother-in-law, Leo Nolan Jr.; Sisters-in-law, Marion Armstrong and Joyce Clay; Nephews, Bobby Armstrong Jr.(Lawanna), Eddie Horn Jr., Leo Nolan III (Michelle), Chad Clay, Earl Dotson Jr. (Valencia), Corey Dotson (Antonia) ; Nieces, Keesha Armstrong Guillory (Gary), Dana Nolan; Special Cousins, Steve Lacy (Maddie), Bruce Dennis, Nelda Faye Davis, and Lottie Davillier (Owens); Extended family, Kenneth Lynch, Donita Thompson and son Quincy; Beloved Friends, David & Martha Roberson; Dearest Friends, Robert & Shirley Young, Mrs. Nora Merida, Ms. Maxine Muldrow; Mom's special sister, Mrs. Emma Cooper; The Lake Park Family and a host of family and friends.
