Willis Guidry was born March 4, 1964 in Lafayette, LA to the late Willie Guidry Jr. and Anna Rose Guidry. He was the fourth of six children.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie Guidry Jr. He wed Shelia Kerlegan March 8, 1996. In this union they were blessed with six children.
Willis attended Ball High School, graduating in May 1982. He was employed at Amato Linehandler for 10 years until his health failed.
He was a long time resident of LaMarque, TX. He received Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mount Moriah Baptist Church.
Willis favorite past time and love was fishing and cooking. He was known for his kind loving heart, generosity, and willingness to help others. He never met a stranger and was known all over Galveston County. He had a deep love for his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. “Whose the greatest pawpaw in the world?” he used to asked them.
God sent an angel to bring Willis home to rest on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Shelia Guidry; children, Shaundrea Guidry, Isiah Zeigler, Willis Guidry Jr., Shauntae Guidry, Andre Guidry and Halle Guidry; grandchildren, Kimora, Kamron, Jyron and MaKenzie; mother, Anna Rose Guidry; siblings; Rev John Guidry (Detra), Bridgette Benefield (Gregory), Michael Guidry (Teresa), Juliet Boggess (Chris) and Rev Kenneth Guidry (Wendy); godchildren, Cherelle Stinson, Khambrel Redwell, Gaybrion Rhoads; devoted in laws; Nellie Williams, Charlotte Kerlegan, Ambroise Kerlegan, Debra Elliott (Don), Rita Robbins, Larry Kerlegan (Annissia) and Harry Kerlegan; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and co-workers.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend services. The Visitation will be from 5 PM– 8:30P Friday, January 25, 2013 and 9 AM – 11 AM Saturday, January 26, 2013 at St John Missionary Baptist Church, 2917 Sealy St., Galveston, TX. The Funeral Ceremony, also at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, will begin at 11 AM Saturday January 26, 2013. Rev Louis Simpson Jr., Pastor of St John Missionary Baptist Church will officiate. Interment is in Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery.
