Resha D'Ann was the second angelic blessing from God born October 28, 1974 to William Charles Benson, Sr. and Lauren Yoni Benson. She established her relationship with Christ at age four and maintained a membership with St. Patrick's Catholic Church. She attended Galveston ISD where she excelled in academics and basketball. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communications with a concentration in Interpersonal Communications from Texas Southern University. After receiving her teaching certification she began her career with La Marque Middle School as an educator specializing in English.
She was preceded in death by her father; brother, Rodney; grandparents, William & Thelma Benson, Norvell Phillips, and John Mavis.
Resha’s circle of love includes her husband, Thomas Duane Olivie; son, Keawe Owens and Jordan Olivie; stepchildren, J'Laine, Aspen and Austin; mother and best friend, Lauren Yoni Benson; siblings, William Charles Tre' Benson, Jr. (Daphne), Kerry Jackson, Jr., and Tanya Landry (Kentrick); grandmother, Gertie Mae Mavis; aunts, Susan Shepherd, Carolyn Anderson, Kim Norva Phillips, Katherine Rogers, Jacqueline Mitchell, Evelyn Conley, Florence Benson, and Constance Saldana; uncles, Steven and Eric Mavis, Donny, Ronnie, Elonzo, Michael, Renard and Raynard Benson; in-laws, Yvette, Darryl and Marcia Olivier; godmother, Vanessa D'Anne Hearne; best friends, Viola Darden and Shanan Jones, and so many wonderful cousins and friends, with which she shared life.
Services that will celebrateResha’s life will begin at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, April 6, 2011 where the remains will lie in state. The Celebration will continue at 11:00 AM. Both services will be held at Carnes Funeral 3100 Gulf Freeway Texas City, TX. 77591. A Ceremony of Burial will be immediately following at Hayes Grace Memorial Cemetery, Hitchcock , TX.
The family will receive guest following the burial ceremony with a Celebration Reception at Carnes Funeral Home. Memorials may be sent to the funeral home. The arrangements and care of Resha have been entrusted to Dorthea Jones, Funeral Director and family friend, Delece Jones and the caring and competent Staff of Carnes Funeral Home.
