{Sep 29, 1953 - Jun 27, 2012}

Guyla Pircher

Guyla Pircher,  58, Director of Special Events for the Houston Grand Opera, died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 of brain cancer. She was born September 29, 1953 in Pineville Kentucky to Parents Guy and Eunice Hoskins.

Guyla had been with the The Houston Grand Opera for almost seven years and was the driving force behind scores of successful fundraising events which raised several million dollars each.  A consummate professional, Guyla believed that the quality of her work reflected her values, and even in the latter throes of her illness, she continued to work for excellence on behalf of the Grand Opera. Guyla requested that her friends honor her memory by "celebrating everyday like Christmas," drinking good champagne, and living their lives with gratitude, wonder and joy.

Guyla is survived by her husband Boyd Harris and two sisters, Donna and Sammye.  Following her wishes, no public services are planned, but remembrances can be made in Pircher’s name to Houston Grand Opera and the Brookwood Community.
