Dorothy Kemp

Dorothy Clara Mock Kemp, 80, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2012 at home with her family by her side.  She was born on December 8, 1931 in Houston, Texas.  She graduated from Ball High School in 1950.  She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Texas City, Texas.  She was employed as a bookbinder for 50+ years.  She was La Marque National Little League Treasurer for 20+ years.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Edward Lee Kemp, her parents, Grant Ulyesees, Sr. and Dorothy (Irwin) Mock, her step-father Robbie Clark and her sister in law June Mock.  She was also preceded by her best friend of over 60 years, Elaine Clark.

She is survived by her sons:  Robert Lee Kemp and wife Susan and William Brian Kemp and wife Kelly all of Santa Fe, Texas; sister Margaret Mock Morton and husband Carl Rex of Etoile, Texas; brother Grant Ulyesees Mock, Jr. of La Marque, Texas; grandchildren Jason Robert Kemp and wife Julie of Santa Fe, Texas, Robert Brian Kemp of Texas City, Texas, Randye Rene Kemp of Santa Fe, Texas; great-grandchildren Ian Thomas Kemp and Skylar Marie Kemp of Santa Fe, Texas.  She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends.

Pallbearers are Jason Kemp, Robert Kemp, Russell Mock, H.L. (Bubba) Smith, Tommy Mills and Jay Mejia.  Jr. Pallbearer is Christopher Mock.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Carnes Funeral Home (exit 15) 3100 Gulf Freeway, Texas City from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church 9111 Emmett F. Lowry Exp., Texas City, Texas 77591. Internment will follow at Hayes Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas.

Special thanks to Uncle Jr., Pam Syers, Brenda Rice, Emma Kotz and Elaine “Punky” Kassler for their loving care during the final weeks of her life.

The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Stacy Wright and Regina Kemmerling of Hospice Compassus for their special care during the last months of her life.
